MISSION STATEMENT

It can be argued that the kidney is most complex organ in the body. It is essentially a computer whose input and output is chemical information. The laboratory investigates various aspects of kidney science from the atomic level to whole patient phenomenology. Our laboratory and collaborators use multidisciplinary approaches to investigate questions in structural biology, physiology, biophysics, engineering, artificial intelligence and medicine. A broad range of tools are used to address scientific projects in these areas including Cryo-Electron microscopy, molecular dynamics, protein purification methods, multi-wavelength fluorescence microscopy, machine learning/big data methods, and membrane filtration chemistry. The lab is multidisciplinary and our collaborators include investigators with expertise in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, molecular dynamics and computer science.
