We are interested in the basic and translational mechanisms of circuit dysfunction in neurologic disorders. We use in vivo multiphoton and macroscopic imaging techniques to study the function of cortical circuits and individual neurons in mouse models of disease.
Check out our recent study investigating plasticity of circuits in the somatosensory cortex throughout recovery after stroke. We find that whisker sensory function does not spontaneously remap to adjacent circuits after stroke, but that responsivity in spared neurons with redundant function can be potentiated by forced-use therapy.
