Research Project:
I am interested in understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of gene expression in the developing brain and how neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), affect these processes. In the Geschwind lab, my research uses CRISPR-based technologies to modulate expression of high confidence autism risk genes in stem cell based organoid cultures, with the goal that these approaches may be applicable to future therapeutic approaches in treating neurodevelopmental disorders. Additionally, my work aims to refine organoid technologies to accelerate neurodevelopment in vitro, to enable studies of neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration in these model systems.
