The Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) provides for the health and well-being of laboratory
animals at UCLA. All personnel involved with the care and use of animals must be adequately educated,
trained, and/or qualified in basic principles of laboratory animal science to help ensure high-quality
science and animal well-being. (Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals P.15). The
Chancellor’s Animal Research Committee (ARC) requires training before initiating research with animals.
