The Lord Lab

The Lord Lab seeks to understand autism, from how it affects people across the lifespan to how to assess it. 

 

Research from the Lord Lab investigates a wide range of topics surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental conditions, with a few key emphases:

  1. Developing assessment tools
  2. Learning patterns and outcomes of individuals and families throughout the lifespan.

Psychologist Dr. Catherine Lord, PhD, leads the Lord Lab through an exceptional team of post-docs, students, staff researchers, and volunteers. 

Dr. Lord is perhaps best known for co-developing the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS and ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI and ADI-R), which together are considered "the gold standard" for the diagnosis of ASD. In addition to their ongoing work with these assessments, members of the Lord Lab team co-develop and study innovative assessment tools, such as the Brief Observation of Social Communication Chance (BOSCC), a sensitive measure meant to capture subtle changes in behaviors over a short period of time. 

The Lord Lab is also known for conducting the longest-running longitudinal study on ASD known to research. The Longitudinal Study of Development has gathered information from more than 200 families for 30 years.
